A golden fleur de lis lattice is fashioned over a strong red field in this more European-themed pattern. In honoring the tradition of reds in carpets, O’Brien studied the spectrum to select appropriate shades for certain designs in this collection. This red is inspired by embossed burgundy leather. It gives the carpet its association with fine library fashion, in gilding and crest colors, rather the lacquer reds of eastern palettes.
